purple shampoo will be more effective than conditioner. some blondes swear by locking in the purple toning with a purple conditioner. however, as the purple shampoo does most of the work, its ok to use your normal conditioner. after rinsing, yoodoo hair deep salt free keratin hair conditoner to soften your hair, and smooth frizz. why? shampoo, even at 5.5 ph is going to open up the cuticle layer of your hair. that’s because shampoo is negatively charged and so is our hair. the increase in negative charge opens the cuticle layer.the colour will be deposited inside the open hair shaft. conditioner will close the cuticle layer trapping the colour in.
how does conditioner close the cuticle? conditioner is positively charged. simply put, the positive charge will counter the negatively charged shampoo.
so why would purple conditioner not be as effective as the shampoo? conditioner grabs on to the outside of the hair shaft and fills in the gaps. that’s how it makes our hair smooth and helps protect it.
